The ride to Gayrettepe takes about 30 minutes and costs around a euro on an Istanbulkart, the city’s stored-value transit card, sold from machines at the station.
What it does not remove is the interchange. Gayrettepe to the M2 line is close to ten minutes of walking between platforms, and the M2 is another twenty minutes down to Vezneciler, so the old city is 80 to 100 minutes away door to door.
