Orlando International Airport is 13 miles up South Orange Blossom Trail from Gatorland’s white alligators, and the terminals themselves hold a palm-planted glass atrium, a 3,000-gallon saltwater tank in the food court and a 360-degree screen room in Terminal C.

Gatorland has been selling tickets on South Orange Blossom Trail since 1949, and the animals it is known for are its leucistic alligators, a handful of near-white individuals whose skin carries almost no pigment. The park opens at ten and closes at five every day of the year, adult admission runs around $35, and you can book admission ahead.
The drive runs about 18 minutes in each direction. Four hours on the ground makes that comfortable and three does not, and an evening flight puts you there after the gates have shut anyway.

The main terminal’s central courtyard is planted with full-size palms under a steel-and-glass roof, with a fountain at the bottom and the airport hotel’s room balconies opening onto it three levels up. It is landside, so it costs nothing and needs no boarding pass. The food court shared by Terminals A and B sits in the same space, built around a cylindrical 3,000-gallon saltwater tank holding 40 to 50 fish and a few eels, with seating wrapped around it.
There are no self-service lockers anywhere at this airport, and the staffed desks that will hold a bag are on the ground level of Terminals A and B, a people-mover ride away from Terminal C.

The Intermodal Terminal opened in 2017 as a glass-roofed hall of tube-enclosed moving walkways, and since September 2023 it has been where Brightline’s trains south leave from. Terminals A and B reach it on the Terminal Link people mover in about four minutes, though the walk on to Terminal C through the parking structure pushes the real door-to-door figure closer to 10 or 12.
Terminal C itself opened in September 2022 and is the newer half of the airport in every sense: fully automated security lanes, a robotic early-bag-storage system with room for more than 1,700 checked bags, and the Moment Vault in the middle of its Palm Court, six LED screens of 15 by 35 feet mounted back to back in a circle, with motion sensors that put up to 30 people at once into a manatee swim or a firefly swarm.
Anyone who would rather have something booked before landing than work it out at the curb can line it up on a tours and activities platform.
City buses leave from the ground level of Terminal A
LYNX Link 11 runs from Terminal A’s ground transportation level to Lynx Central Station downtown in about 45 minutes for a flat $2, every 30 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays and once an hour on Sundays. Link 42 goes the other way, out to International Drive, in around an hour. Both are slow enough that they only pay off on a long wait, and the full downtown and Winter Park itinerary assumes five hours or more for exactly that reason.
Leave the suitcase at a storage point rather than towing it between two landside buildings and a people mover, and four awkward hours here turn into a palm court, a fish tank and, with a car, an alligator farm older than the terminals around it.

The Terminal Link automated people mover runs from Terminals A and B out to the Intermodal Terminal in about four minutes, and Terminal C is a walk of roughly 400 metres on from there through the parking structure. Budget 10 to 12 minutes door to door rather than the four the ride itself takes. It runs before security, so you can use it without a boarding pass.
Is the Moment Vault before or after security?
After. It sits airside in Terminal C's Palm Court, so it is only on your route if you are actually flying out of Terminal C. Travelers departing from Terminals A or B would have to clear security twice to see it, which is not worth doing on a tight connection.
What is open at MCO in the middle of the night?
McCoy's, inside the airport hotel on the main terminal's third level, is one of the few places here that serves around the clock, and it sits before security so a red-eye connection can reach it. Most of the concessions in the airsides keep ordinary retail hours and shut once the evening departures clear.
