From Trocadéro, walk out onto the esplanade in front of the Palais de Chaillot: this is the postcard view of Paris, the full tower framed by the fountains of the Jardins du Trocadéro below, and it costs nothing to stand and take in.
Head down through the gardens and across the Pont d’Iéna to reach the tower itself, then keep walking onto Champ de Mars, the long lawn stretching south from its base. Even without going up, sitting on the grass with the tower directly overhead is worth the walk on its own.
Why this spot makes storage non-negotiable
The tower’s security perimeter doesn’t allow suitcases or large bags through at all, and there’s no on-site cloakroom or locker to fall back on. If you’re arriving with luggage, dropping it off before you get here isn’t a nice-to-have, it’s the only way past the checkpoint.

Cross back over the Seine on the Pont d’Iéna or continue along the river toward the Musée du quai Branly, whose gardens make a quieter, greener alternative to the crowds directly under the tower. Travelers with a longer window can also ride the Bateaux Parisiens river cruise, which departs right from the base of the tower and gives a different, low-effort view of the same skyline.

Pick up your bag and take the RER C from Champ de Mars-Tour Eiffel to Saint-Michel-Notre-Dame, then change onto the RER B toward CDG without needing a new ticket. The whole trip runs about an hour door to door, so build in at least two hours before your flight once you factor in the transfer and CDG’s security lines.
